A Highly skilled team of surgeons lead by Dr. ChiragSadiwala, who specialize in Minimal Access Surgery ( Laparoscopic ) performed a Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy on an elderly female , who presented with complaintsof Indigestion , Abdominal Bloating& Dyspepsia.

Successfully, surgeons were able remove Gallbladder containing 206 stones with almost no bile and while performing the above surgery they found a Ureteric stone which was also successfully removed.

Post surgery and discharge , patient has recovered well.

Medical Ozone for Prevention and Treatment

Ozone therapy is an incredible rejuvenator, normalizer, detoxifier, regenerator, immune enhancer and physical and mental energizer. With the mounting cost of health care and increasing incidences of side effects, more and more people are trying out alternative therapies.

What is Medical Ozone?
Ozone molecule is made up of three oxygen atoms. An extra atom of oxygen makes it very active. When this ozone is made from pure medical oxygen, it is called medical ozone.

Medical ozone is useful in which diseases?
Medical Ozone is used as a complementary and supportive treatment for many disease conditions. Special set of properties makes ozone valuable in treatment of following diseases.

  1. The treatment of circulatory disorders
  • Angina pectoris, cerebro-vascular accidents, stroke, gangrene, smoker’s legs
  • Varicose veins
  • In the field of geriatrics macular degeneration of eye and chronic fatigue syndrome.
  1. The treatment of diseases produced by infection
  • Open ulcers on the legs – diabetic foot, venous ulcers
  • Burns, scalds
  • Bed sores
  • Fistulas, sinuses, infected wounds
  • Non healing ulcers and wounds
  • Dental caries
  • Liver diseases (hepatitis) and herpes
  • Fungal infections and others
  1. The treatment of diseases produced by inflammation
  • Inflammatory intestinal conditions like ulcerative colitis, proctitis
  • Prolapsed intervertebral disc
  • Osteo-arthritis
  1. For immunomodulation
  • As an additive or complementary therapy in various types of cancer, as it improves the quality of life for cancer patients
  • In chronic degenerative diseases like diabetes mellitus and its complications like diabetic foot, gangrene, retinopathy, heart conditions, kidney failure, stroke, etc.
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Various allergies like asthma, eczema
  • Autoimmune diseases, chronic fatigue
  • Ozone is applied for general activation of immune system at low dosages.
  1. For Rejuvenation, detoxification and anti-aging
  • Medical ozone removes toxins from the body. Thus it causes deep internal cleansing.  It recharges the body with energy and helps maintain health.

How does it act?
Mechanism of action:

  • Activates cellular metabolism
  • Modulates the immune system
  • Increases and activates body's own antioxidants and radical scavengers
  • Activates cellular metabolism
  • Ozone increases the glycolysis rate in red blood cells. This leads to the activation of 2,3-diphosphoglycerate, which in turn causes increased oxygen release into tissue.
  • Ozone activates the Kreb cycle by enhancing oxidative carboxylation of pyruvate, stimulating production of ATP.
  • Ozone causes reduction in NADH and induces oxidation of cytochrome C. Thus improving cellular respiration.
  • Ozone reacts with unsaturated fatty acids in cellular membranes to form hydro peroxides. The acts synergistically with cellular formed H2O2.
  • Ozone acts on red blood cells (RBCs) and makes their cell membranes more elastic and pliable. This improves circulation in smaller capillaries.
  • It relaxes blood vessel cells, opening up small capillaries; further improving circulation.
  • Modulates the immune system
  • Ozone can act as an inducer of cytokines producing IL-6, IL-4, TNF-α, IFN-β, IFN-γ, IL-2 and IL-10 and, most importantly, there is a significant relationship between cytokine production and ozone concentration. Ozone activates immunocompetent cells and thus entire immune system through cytokines in a very controlled fashion.
  • Ozone's bactericidal, fungicidal and virostatic properties are widely used in disinfecting infected wounds as well as in treating bacterially and virally produced diseases.
  • Increases and activates body's own antioxidants and radical scavengers

Ozone stimulates the production of the antioxidants glutathione peroxidase, catalase, and superoxide dismutase. It increases and activates body's own antioxidants and radical scavengers to effectively fight against free radicals induced oxidative stress.
What are the side effects?
Medical ozone, when properly and responsibly given, for correct indication is safe and effective. There are no negative side effects. Most patients feel fresh, energetic and happier after taking medical ozone.

Is Ozone Safe?
Yes. It is Safe. Ozone is one of the safest medical therapy ever devised. In 1980, a study done by the German Medical Society for Ozone Therapy, 644 therapists were polled regarding their 384,775 patients, comprising a total of 5,579,238 ozone treatments administered. There were only 40 cases of side effects noted out of this number that represents an incredibly low rate of 0.000007%, and only four fatalities.

What are the contraindications?
Active bleeding from any site, hyperthyroidism, ITP, G6PD deficiency, allergy to ozone (extremely rare)

How is it given?
Medication in a gaseous forms are somewhat unusual, therefore special application techniques have to be developed for the safe use of ozone.
In any form of ozone therapy, the breathing in of ozone gas is forbidden.
Medical ozone is given through rectum, vagina or ear as insufflation. Externally, Ozone gas given as ozone steam bath, bagging the affected part; ozone water and ozone oil can be applied for quick healing. It can be given as injections in the muscle, under the skin, in and around the joint, inside the intervertebral disc, in the vein. It can also be mixed with saline or blood infusions.
Ozonated oil is prepared by bubbling ozone through vegetable oil for many hours. Ozonated oil has very powerful antimicrobial, anti- inflammatory & wound healing properties. It is stable for one year in a refrigerator.
Is it a new therapy? Why have we never heard about it?
Actually medical ozone is in use for over a century! It was effectively used in the First World War to treat infected war wounds. It is used in Germany, Italy, France, Russia, Mexico, Cuba, Japan, etc. Few states in USA have sanctioned the use of Ozone therapy as an experimental therapy.  Ozone is getting popular in India only recently.

Does it interfere with the medication that I am taking now?
No. Medical ozone can be taken with all the different types of treatments without interfering with it. In fact, it enhances the effects of antibiotics. In cancer patients, it decreases the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. It is used as supplementary treatment.
